Jory is a fly-fishing guide with over a decade experience guiding on the Pere Marquette Watershed. Born in Holland, Michigan, his parents first introduced him to Baldwin in 1994 when they purchased a small cabin in the woods. It didn’t take long for the Pere Marquette to grab Jory’s attention. By 1998 he purchased his first fly rod and reel, and a few years later he found himself working at a local fly shop and began guiding in 2005. Since then, his passion for the sport and guiding has only grown.
Jory is sure to have the necessary equipment needed for the different options and styles of fishing on the watershed, as it can change daily. Every month brings us a different season and a set of different techniques. Whether throwing big streamers or drifting small eggs, chasing trophy browns through the night or enjoying an early morning trico hatch with 3wts and all methods in between, he will have you ready and prepared for the water. Safety, creating an enjoyable experience, and passing on knowledge are my top priorities on the water. With these simple ideals, having a great experience on the Pere Marquette is guaranteed every visit.
Whether it is your first trip learning the basics or you’re a seasoned angler hunting for a trophy salmo trutta, mighty migratory salmon or steelhead, Jory is grateful to bring that opportunity to the table. He takes great satisfaction in his work knowing that one should always be evolving as a guide and bringing new adventures and techniques to every angler that steps in his boat.
